Denali National Park, Blueberry Hill | Panoramic Park Picture DNP1
from $123.90
Established in 1917, Denali National Park and Preserve was created by Congress to protect the abundant and diverse wildlife living in the park. Today it consists of almost 6 million acres of protected wilderness and is home to a variety of animal and plant species including 38 mammals, over 170 birds, 14 fish, 1 amphibian and over 1,700 plants. One of the more interesting residents of the Park is its only amphibian, the wood frog. This resilient little animal has evolved over time to thrive in some of the harshest weather, as it freezes solid during the winter, its heart and breathing stop and it doesn’t take a breath again until the spring thaw. Wood Frogs can be found in kettles and marshy areas in this part of the Park.
