This panoramic photograph of Paris, France was taken by James Blakeway. Centered in the photograph is the Eiffel Tower which was constructed for the 1889 World Fair. Directly behind the Eiffel Tower is the Trocadero Palace with its curved wings. To the right in the distance is the Arc de Triomphe which was commissioned in 1806 by Napoleon and is the worlds largest triumphal arch. Arc de Triomphe is located on Avenue des Champs-Elysees, a ten-lane wonder flanked by cafes and luxury shops. In the foreground is the brightly lit and domed Hotel des Invalides, constructed in 1670 to recieve old or wounded officers and soldiers.
