This panorama of the Grand Canyon’s North Rim provides a birds-eye view from the highest and northernmost overlook in the park, known as Point Imperial at 8,803 feet. The North Rim is a different world from its southern counterpart, averaging over a thousand feet higher. This difference in elevation has a profound effect on climate and vegetation, as well as the type of animals that roam the area. Visible slightly left of the point and winding through the valley floor is Nankoweap Creek, the upper end of which is enclosed between various ridges and spires including Mount Hayden, Hancock Butte and Alsap Butte.
